Where are we?

Aparthotel Amella is located on Emīlijas Benjamiņas Street, which meets Kārļa Mīlenbaha Street. These streets were formerly known as Gogoļa Street and Puškina Street. Emīlija Benjamiņa (Emilia Benjamin) was a remarkable woman of her time, who, through her work and enterprise, marked an important place in the press and public life of Latvia. Her life and work are an inspiring example today, showing that with courage and perseverance one can achieve great goals and influence society. Emilia’s legacy is a precious story of perseverance and overcoming difficulties that remains relevant and inspiring.

The house at 8 Emīlijas Benjamiņas Street was built in 1900 and has served as a residential building. Its design was commissioned by Olga Heinike, daughter of Peter, wife of the lawyer Gustav Heinike. The design was created by Rūdolfs Filips Donbergs (Rudolf Philipp Donberg).

Although Emīlijas Benjamiņas Street is not long, it has a number of important landmarks, including the Church of the Annunciation and St. Nicholas and the high-rise building of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
