In early May, Uzvaras parks becomes one of Riga’s most photogenic spots as cherry blossoms (sakura) come into full bloom. The park transforms into a soft pink landscape, attracting locals and visitors for walks, picnics, and springtime photos.

Rimi Riga Marathon 2026

16–17 May 2026

One of the highlights of spring, the Rimi Riga Marathon brings tens of thousands of runners into the city. With distances for all levels—from a full marathon to shorter runs—the event turns Riga into a celebration of movement, energy, and community.

Even if you’re not running, it’s a fantastic time to experience the city’s atmosphere, with cheering crowds and scenic routes through Old Town and along the Daugava River.


Museum Night 2026

Expected: 23 May 2026 (Saturday)

One of the most unique cultural experiences in Latvia, Museum Night takes place across Riga and the entire country. During this evening, more than 100 museums, galleries, and cultural venues open their doors late into the night—many free of charge.

Visitors can explore exhibitions, special performances, and interactive installations, discovering Latvian history, art, and culture in a completely different atmosphere.

On the same day, Church Night also takes place, allowing visitors to experience Riga’s historic churches from morning until midnight.

This coincides perfectly with marathon weekend, making mid-May one of the most exciting times to visit Riga.
